For anyone and everyone birthing in the Australian Maternity System, whether it's your first or fifth time.
You want a positive, empowered birth.
And maybe you're desiring 'as little intervention as possible'.

Maybe you're facing an induction.

The words 'I'm just going to go with the flow' might have passed your lips.

You want to birth as 'naturally as possible'.
I know you know that birth matters, that you matter too. This feels like a big day for you and you want it to leave a beautiful, lasting imprint on your heart. You've been dreaming of it for so long, haven't you. The intensity of labour and those first moments with your baby in your arms. Mmmm. It's good, isn't it? Dreaming of that moment, meeting them.

It feels once in a lifetime.
We've learned how to breathe and move,
but not how to hold our own.
Birth is huge work.
Preparing for birth feels big and important.
It's big and important to me too, so I've created this course to help get
you where you want to be heading.
So that you walk into that birth suite eyes wide open, no surprises,
confident and knowing, so that you can go with your flow - not theirs.
I created this course because too many of us are walking in blind.
99% of births in Australia take place in the hospital,
in a maternity system that isn't set up to
support labour and birth to unfold naturally.
That doesn't sanctify fundamental rights.
And we don't even know it.

So many guidelines. So many rules and policies about
where and how and when.
And our intervention rates are higher than ever - and still climbing -
with no improved outcomes for mums and babies.
In fact, many are walking away broken and not knowing what happened to them.

I want to ignite the confidence and power within you that we both know is there.
That mama-bear instinct.
That sure groundedness.
I'll walk you through how the system is structured, where you fit in it, how to interact with it,
what your rights are, the cascade of interventions,
the flow that the hospital wants you to go with (hint: it's not yours)
and how to assert your power so that you can be the boss of your birth.
So that you can be prepared to be utterly transformed in the best,
most positive of ways on your birth-day.
Because that matters.
"I can think back to a very specific scenario during my pregnancy where i used language you gave me, and it spun the whole conversation on its head and gave me back so much power - this course is a game changer"
@hellotillie
"I'm 10% through and have no words. I love it so much Karli! The way you break everything down is compassionate, clear and of course factual!"
- Dusk
"Throughout my pregnancy Karli's advice was always so helpful, especially regarding hospital policy and my rights birthing in the hospital. Not only did she provide me huge confidence for birth through our prep sessions but also my partner - he's said multiple times he can't imagine doing it all without that knowledge"

Physiological Birth in the System: The Uncomfortable Truth
How to Make a Complaint
This is for you if you're preparing to birth in any hospital in Australia.
Public, private, rural, inner city, private obstetrician, GP shared care, midwifery continuity of care.
If you're birthing in a hospital, there's critical information in this course that will impact your birth.
I'm yet to come across another birth course or class that speaks to the
reality of the context we're in here - and I'm changing that.
Whether it be a spontaneous labour, planned induction or
planned cesarean section - you need to know that hospital policies and operational guidelines
will have influence over how you want to experience labour,
over how you want to birth your baby.
I'm here to walk you through it with honesty and leave you with
the tools to navigate what you'll come across.
I've supported dozens of births in hospitals - I know the ropes.
And with my background in Human Rights Law and policy,
I've got the ovaries to call out what's happening, and equip you with the
"no means no" language.
I know you've got those ovaries in you too!
"I'm absolutely loving the course, amazing work! I love that you kept the bloopers in there for giggles - breaks it up too!"
- Georgia
"This is the most useful and radical thing i've seen happening in the birth space in a really long time. This is the shit that's actually going to create real change."
Rafferty Hallows
"Thanks again for your ripper course! My client has gotten stuck into it now and is so much more the wiser."

That's right, I'm yet to come across a birth class that goes into depth about the context the maternity ward sits in - macro and micro - that openly and honestly lays it all bare. About the influence of capitalism, patriarchy, the medical industrial complex, media, social media and The Good Girl Problem. It's 2022 and the system is in a shambles - but no one is talking about your human rights, or how to get information upfront so that you can provide informed consent - a legal obligation. No one is talking about how to make a complaint (I'll walk you through it!) and create some real change.
Maybe this isn't your first rodeo. Maybe you had a challenging - even traumatic - previous birth and you want to prepare differently this time. You had no idea what you were walking into, but now you've experienced it, and you want to be fully equipped this time. You want to understand how it went the way it did. You know your body isn't broken - but that a broken, fragmented system took over and swept you away with it. I'm so sorry if that happened to you. It shouldn't have. I want to help you have better conversations, more meaningful dialogue with your care providers, to help you practice feeling powerful again, and to take back your birth.
Boldly going where
no birth class
has gone before.
FAQ's

What if this isn't my first birth?
Perfect! You're probably here because you've already experienced what it's like birthing in hospital and you want to be better prepared this time. There's plenty in here to help you prepare for your next birth.

Do we go through physiological birth? (ie, will you tell me how birth actually works?)
No. This course is about preparing to birth within the hospital system. If you want to know all about hormones and anatomy and how your gorgeous body works during birth, I have lots of recommendations within the resource list for places to go to learn about those things. In the course, we do cover non-pharmaceutical ways to work with the intensity of labour.

I've booked at a private hospital, is this for me?
Absolutely. Your rights in childbirth, autonomy and decision making apply wherever you're birthing. In fact private hospitals have higher intervention rates than public hospitals, so if you're wanting to avoid unnecessary intervention, or simply be the one calling the shots no matter what it is you want, this is definitely the course for you.

Are there any live components to this course?
No. This is 100% pre-recorded so that you can access it at any time during your pregnancy and not wait for a live round. If. you'd like to speak with me directly, you can book a session over here.

Does this course include information how to use meditation and breathing skills in labour?
No. It does include information on how to keep your cool though ;)

I'm not pregnant yet, will this help me?
Absolutely. The more time you have to soak all of this in, the better. And, you'll have more time to decide on your ideal care provider too, once you have an idea about how hospitals operate.

I'm 38 weeks pregnant, is it too late
It's never too late to learn about what you're stepping in to, and how to navigate your labour in the hospital system. All of the video content is in high-value, straight to the point segments, so you can float around what's most important to you right now.

Is there a payment plan option?
No. This course is jam packed with value, and I've purposefully kept the price as low as possible. If you require special consideration, please email me.

Mamas,
You can do this.

I know it can feel overwhelming.
I’ve been there.

They say knowledge is power, and it is.
But I think power is more powerful than knowledge.
Knowing you have it and can use it?

That’s where it’s at.
I believe in you.
I believe in us.

Remember -
Confident.
Powerful.
Grounded.
